My-Hanh comes from Sacramento, California and has always been interested in the anatomy and physiology of the human body.  She graduated from the University of California, Davis with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior.  After completing college she was introduced to Pilates by her aunt and started taking duet session at a country club in Roseville, California.

 

She became fascinated at how Pilates focuses on the whole body to improve balance, strength, flexibility, and posture.  She moved to Houston, Texas and studied to earn her certification through the Pilates Method Alliance.  To continue to spread her passion for Pilates, she decided to join the Texas Pilates Association (TPA) and held the seat as Secretary. TPA's goal is to educate, network, and support professional development in the community of Pilates and mind-body professionals.

 

To expand on her knowledge, My-Hanh also received a certification as a Buff Bones® Instructor. "Buff Bones® is a medically-endorsed workout that combines Pilates, functional movement, strength training, and therapeutic exercise with bone-strengthening and balance techniques to optimize the health and safety of your bones."

 

My-Hanh also earned a certification as a Health and Wellness Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where she was trained in many dietary theories and various practical lifestyle coaching methods. Drawing on this knowledge, she will be able to create a completely personalized roadmap to health that will suit her client's unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals.

 

Also, My-Hanh is involved as a member for the Houston Area Woman's Center Young Leaders. This group is dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault, fundraising and providing volunteers to support the efforts of the Houston Area Woman's Center. She is also an Ambassador for the Greater Heights Area Chamber of Commerce.

When My-Hanh is not in the studio teaching and practicing Pilates, she spends time with her husband, Mathieu, one-year old son, Mason, and their soft-coated Wheaten terrier, Mochi.  Besides Pilates, she also enjoys running, cycling, yoga, and rock climbing.  She is adventurous, loves the outdoors, and is always ready for a new challenge. Today, she continues to motivate her clients towards their health and fitness goals with rigorous lesson plans and positive energy.

Pilates. The most intelligent form of exercise! The results are remarkable.  My instructor, My-Hanh, took the time to learn about my history and what I wanted to achieve by doing Pilates. She structures our sessions to help me reach my goals. She has improved my core strength, balance, and flexibility. I have never done the same workout twice! I would recommend her to anyone. I have two goals in life: to try every fad exercise regime that comes along and to make it to the end of the inter webs (internet). I kid. At the time, I needed to shake-up my exercise regime, but also wanted to find a lifelong physical activity that would keep my attention and keep me lean.

 

It’s been nearly a year since I started under the instruction of My-Hanh. She is awesome! She has helped me improve my posture and taught me the techniques I need to protect my body while trying group classes at some of the various upstart, exercise studios across Houston.

 

Pilates is no fad. I plan on staying as long as I can, practicing moves like “The Tower” and “The Gorilla”.
